Ukrainian House in Davos. Results

On January 30th, the Interfax news agency hosted a final press conference of the Organizing Committee of the Ukrainian House in Davos. During the event, members of the organizing committee noted the positive impact of the Ukrainian House in Davos on the international business reputation and investment attractiveness of our country, as well as the success of this year’s representation. The theme of the Ukrainian House, like last year, was “Creativity. Innovation. Opportunities.”

The event was attended by Alexa Chopivska (Executive Director, Ukraine House Davos), Olga Afanasyeva (Executive Director of UVCA), Yaroslava Johnson (President and Director of WNISEF), Svitlana Hrytsenko (Victor Pinchuk Foundation), Olena Kosharna (Founding Partner and Director of Horizon Capital).

During the press conference, the organizing committee thanked all sponsors and supporters who supported the Ukrainian House in Davos and called on everyone to join in the active promotion of Ukraine in the world.

We believe that three main conclusions can be drawn from our experience in Davos. First: the Ukrainian House in Davos has created a powerful investment brand. Second: the Ukrainian House in Davos has opened a window for foreigners - our sponsors. Third, and most importantly: the Ukrainian House in Davos has created a positive image of Ukraine as a country of innovation, creativity and great opportunities.

Alexa Chopivska

Executive Director of the Ukrainian House in Davos

The success of the House is also evidenced by the numbers, as noted by Olga Afanasyeva, Executive Director of UVCA:

We managed to create the right atmosphere, which allowed us to show Ukraine as a partner, as a participant in the global discussion, a reliable partner and an innovative country. More than eight thousand guests, 14 discussion panels and 64 speakers from 9 countries of the world, more than 100 hours of video content, 113 thousand online viewers and hundreds of the most delicious cups of coffee on the Promenade, brewed by the world champion in brewing coffee in a cezve (and he is Ukrainian!) And much more. American writer Edith Wharton wrote: “There are two ways to spread light: to be a candle or a mirror that reflects it”. We were the candles that lit this light. And our “mirrors” (partners, sponsors, participants) supported this project, spreading the success stories and opportunities of Ukraine.

Olga Afanasyeva

Executive Director of UVCA

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has been organizing Ukrainian events in Davos for 15 years. It is very pleasant that for the second year, in addition to the traditional Ukrainian Breakfast in Davos, we, together with our partners, are working on a new project - the Ukrainian House in Davos, to promote Ukraine and show the potential of our country to global leaders in business, politics and civil society. We presented Ukraine and its diversity: investment and technological opportunities, a new generation of young leaders, Ukrainian contemporary art of work. In particular, the House hosted the works of three Ukrainian artists: Dmytro Starusiv, Zhanna Kadyrova and Lesya Khomenko. In addition, the Ukrainian House hosted the first fashion show in Davos by designer Yulia Magdych, evening performances by Ukrainian sensation Alina Pash and the ethno-jazz band ShockolaD. And as souvenirs, guests of the Ukrainian House received wonderful scarves from the Ukrainian brand Rito. We demonstrated our achievements in all areas to the world.

Svitlana Hrytsenko

Director of the National Programs Department, Victor Pinchuk Foundation

At the Ukrainian House in Davos, we talked about leadership and building a successful state, and for us at WNISEF this issue is extremely important. Now we pay a lot of attention to the training of young leaders, and the problem of value orientation is relevant both for Ukraine and for the world as a whole.

Yaroslava Johnson

President and Director of WNISEF

Ukraine is the “brains, hands and grains” of the world, and this year we really managed to demonstrate our intellectual power and investment attractiveness of Ukraine. We were sincerely glad that investors received a modern and innovative platform in Davos, where they were able to communicate with influential investors, leaders and officials from Europe and the USA, as well as the Middle East, India and Asia. After all, we can talk a lot about improving the investment climate in Ukraine, but when those who actually invest and make a profit talk about it, it is many times better. This is a signal for the market.

Olena Kosharna

Founding Partner and Director of Horizon Capital

It was extremely important for us to support a joint initiative. Such projects give foreigners a real picture of what is happening in Ukraine. Unfortunately, many investors do not know about us or have heard bad things, and such projects destroy stereotypes by demonstrating real success stories of Ukrainian business.

Danylo Bilak

Director of the Office for Investment Attraction and Support UkraineInvest

During the press briefing, the Ukrainian House organizing committee released an infographic titled “Ukrainian House in Davos in Figures.” It states, in particular, that during Davos week, the Ukrainian House worked for 82.5 hours. Over 10,000 people registered for the discussion panels and special events of the Ukrainian House, and over 7,000 people visited its walls directly in 5 days. The total number of people who joined the live broadcasts of the Ukrainian House events on the Facebook page and YouTube channel was 112,699 people, and the House’s total video content is 101 hours. Speakers from 9 countries participated in the Ukrainian House events. Thanks to the proactive digital campaign conducted by the organizers, the Ukrainian House Facebook page was viewed more than 110,000 times.
